Dr. Sherra’ Watkins, PhD, M.S., MA.Ed, LPC, LCAS, CRC, CCS, BC-TMH
Sherra´ McMillan Watkins, was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC and currently resides in Charlotte, NC. is a graduate from East Carolina University with a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Counseling & Administration. Sherra´ also obtained her M.S. in Clinical Counseling & Substance Abuse (2011), MA.Ed in Health Education (2007), and B.S. School Health Education with a concentration in Science Education (2005) also from ECU. Dr. Watkins is a Substance Abuse approved Supervisor (CCS), and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), and Board Certified-Telemental Health Provider (BC-TMH).
Sherra´ has nine years of teaching experience and began counseling as a Sexual Assault Advocate for sexual assault victims and working the National Suicide hotline. She is an experienced individual, couple, and family therapist. She specializes in depression and anxiety, chronic pain, chronic diseases and disability, child and adolescent behavioral therapy, relationship or marriage counseling, substance abuse counseling, career or vocational counseling, and counselor training & supervision.
Additionally, Sherra´ has over nine years of teaching and speaking experience. She is a highly sought after presenter and keynote speaker in Mental Health and Addiction Conferences, community organizations, organizational workshops, public schools, and universities. Sherra´ brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Sister WELLS working with children and adults on emotional and addiction issues, behavior change, through motivational interviewing via counseling and coaching. She is a subject matter expert in the areas of emotional health, chronic disease and pain management, healthy relationships, stress management, trauma and self-care. She has also presented at local, state and national counseling conventions in the areas of resilience, trauma, micro-aggression, ethnic identity, home-based counseling, internet counseling, HIV/AIDS, addiction and multicultural issues within counseling and higher education.
Sherra´ holds memberships with several professional associations which include Eta Sigma Gamma, National Council on Rehabilitation Educators, Professional Association of Rehabilitation Counselors, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She has received personal honors from Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and professional honors ECU Leadership Awards: 40 under 40 Inaugural Class.
