#MeToo Conference: More Than A Hashtag

Call for Proposals:

The Call for Proposals will open on November 30, 2019 for the 2019 #MeToo: More Than A Hashtag Conference. The theme of the conference is: “Educating & Healing in One Space”.  It will be hosted by Gastonia Conference Center and held April 24, 2019 in Gastonia NC, which is 20-minutes outside of Charlotte, NC. Proposals are due by: February 2, 2019.

PROPOSAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Proposals must be submitted online. We suggest copying the information from a plain text editor, such as MS Word, to eliminate formatting before pasting it to the submission form.

Lead Presenter

The designated lead presenter will serve as the sole point of contact. The lead presenter is responsible for submitting the proposal, informing co-presenters of the selection decision, distributing materials to co-presenters, planning the presentation agenda and ensuring that the content is not biased. All items below are required to complete your submission. Maximum three presenters per session.

Proposals will be reviewed by the Conference Proposal Reviewers using the following criteria:

  • Relevance of topic: Is the topic of relevance, importance, value, and/or interest to higher education?
  • Proposed topic coverage: Does the proposal adequately cover content related to the proposers’ learning objectives/key stated outcomes?
  • Presenter knowledge: Does the presenter, or presenters, have sufficient knowledge, expertise, and authority to address this topic based on evidence provided in the proposal and/or prior experience with or knowledge of the presenter?
  • Engagement strategies: Does the presenter include specific strategies relevant to event size, audience, and maturity of topic in which they will engage participants in the session content, and do those strategies align with the session’s learning objectives/outcomes?

Proposals submissions should focus on one of two tracks: 

1) Prevention & Education and

2) Healing the Victim (i.e., Clinical Interventions, Activities and Education geared towards those who’ve suffered from sexual violence).

  • Yoga, Reiki, Healing Touch                                   
  • Mindfulness & Meditation

  • Any therapeutic modality focused on healing
